Phinca Hapa Tinto
We met Melanie (the owner and producer of this wine) at the Roundhouse in Camden and we would not be surprised if we see her story on Netflix any time soon. Coming from Hawaii she gave it all up to buy a plot of land in Rioja and make some stunning wines alongside her husband.
This single estate bottle is organic. Biodynamic, the land is worked by hand and horse ploughed, there is minimal intervention in the winery and no additives used.
It has classic tempranillo flavours of plum and red cherry with a long finish and complexity to match.
