Anna Maria Abonna, Barbera, Italy
Anna-Maria’s oldest vines were planted by her grandfather in the thirties. The vineyards are steep and perfectly exposed to the sun and at an average altitude of 500 metres, Abbona’s rosé has a fresh imprint that gives great structure elegance.
More recently she has become a convert to the doctrine of low yields and has now joined the elite of Piemonte producers.
Anna-Maria has developed a reputation for growing grapes on the best sites that are normally reserved for Barolo production. It takes great skill to produce a rose from the prestigious Nebbiolo grape but this gamble has certainly paid off to produce a very elegant high-end rosé.
